Straffe Hendrik Heritage is a profound Belgian Dark Strong Ale, elevated by a year of maturation in chestnut barrels. This mahogany-hued liquid radiates a sophisticated sensory profile where bready, toasty malts collide with oxidative notes of vintage port. Expect a concentrated bouquet of dark fruits—prominently raisins, prunes, and dried figs—entwined with licorice and a subtle, vinous wood character. The barrel integration introduces fine tannins that balance the innate sweetness of the malt, while Belgian yeast contributes a delicate spiciness. It is a slow-sipping masterpiece that evolves from a rich, malty start to a smooth, warming, and complex finish.

Appearance. Deep coppery-brown with mahogany highlights (18–22 SRM). It presents a dense, persistent, light tan head with fine lacing. Clarity is clear to slightly hazy due to extended aging.

Aroma. High intensity and deeply complex. Rich, bready-toasty malt and dark caramel provide a sturdy base. Strong esters of dried dark fruits including figs, plums, and raisins dominate, complemented by spicy phenols like black pepper and a touch of vanilla.
