It has an extremely pungent aroma of rich grapey fruit, with acidic notes, very much like a slightly sour red wine or possibly a gueuze. Rodenbach è un birrificio belga con sede a Roeselare, nelle Fiandre Occidentali, ed è universalmente riconosciuto come il miglior produttore di birre sour. Rodenbach vanta anche una eccezionale cantina che ospita quasi 300 botti di rovere, un autentico museo dichiarato monumento di archeologia industriale.
Il birrificio, sempre di proprietà della famiglia Rodenbach, è specializzato nella produzione di birre che subiscono una doppia fermentazione: la prima in tino di acciaio e la seconda in botte, quest’ultima avviata dai lieviti spontanei presenti nel legno. Il blender miscela quindi la birra maturata con una birra giovane, ottenendo il risultato finale.
