Mc Chouffe
Mc Chouffe presents a robust interpretation of the British Brown Ale style, infused with Belgian Abbey character. This deep ruby-colored ale opens with an intense aromatic profile of toffee and sweet malt, accented by distinctive notes of aniseed and liquorice. On the palate, a complex interplay of dark fruits, leather, and caramel creates a rich foundation, balanced by a smooth, moderate bitterness. The 8% alcohol content provides a well-integrated warmth that supports the full-bodied texture. Finished with a medium-dry lingering spice, this unfiltered ale marries the malt-forward tradition of a Scotch ale with the spicy, fruity esters characteristic of Belgian fermentation.
Appearance. Dark copper to reddish-brown (12-22 SRM) with ruby highlights. Persistent off-white to light tan head with moderate lacing. Slight haze from being unfiltered and bottle-conditioned.
Aroma. High intensity with a sweet malt base of toffee and light chocolate. Prominent esters of black fruits and spicy notes of aniseed and liquorice. Low earthy hop aroma is present in the background.
Taste. Initial malt sweetness featuring toffee and caramel flavors. Mid-palate adds complexity with leather, liquorice, and dark fruit notes. Bitterness is medium-low and smooth, providing balance without being sharp. Finish is medium-dry with a lingering spicy and alcoholic warmth.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a robust character. Medium to medium-high carbonation from bottle conditioning. Noticeable alcohol warmth that is well-integrated and smooth. No astringency.

Con su 8% de alcohol, al igual que LA CHOUFFE, Mc CHOUFFE se aprecia con la misma ligereza que su hermana mayor Chouffe Blond Brasserie d’Achouffe se refiere a esta cerveza como una ‘ Ardense sKotch ‘, con un guiño a la cerveza gnome más popular de la familia. La palabra holandesa para gnomo es ‘ Kabouter ‘, de ahí la inclusión de la K mayúscula. En comparación con otras cervezas oscuras refermentadas, el sabor de una Mc Chouffe es realmente bastante neutro. A diferencia de La Chouffe, no se añaden hierbas a la infusión.
