Erdinger Weissbräu

Erdinger Dunkel is a quintessential Dunkles Weissbier, showcasing a mahogany depth and a sophisticated interplay of malt and yeast. Brewed with Hallertauer hops and a blend of dark wheat and barley malts, it delivers a rich sensory experience. The aroma is defined by classic weizen yeast esters—specifically banana and clove—layered over deep notes of toasted bread, caramel, and a hint of walnut. On the palate, the toasted malt character provides a nutty, bread-crust backbone that balances the spicy phenols. Its creamy, effervescent texture leads to a clean, slightly sweet finish, making it a robust yet refreshing dark wheat ale.

Appearance. Deep mahogany brown (18–23 SRM) with a ruby-tinted shine. Topped with a very thick, moussy, and long-lasting off-white head. Displays a characteristic slight haze from the traditional use of wheat and yeast.

Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring a harmonious balance of banana esters and spicy clove phenols. Prominent bready and doughy wheat notes are complemented by aromas of caramel, toasted bread crust, and a subtle nuttiness from the dark malts. Low spicy hop aroma is present.

Taste. Initial impression of soft, bready wheat and rich caramel sweetness. Mid-palette reveals moderate banana and clove flavors that integrate seamlessly with toasted malt, nuts, and fresh bread. Bitterness is low, allowing the malty richness to shine through to a well-rounded, relatively dry, and clean finish.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably fluffy and creamy texture. High carbonation provides a lively, effervescent sensation on the tongue. Alcohol warmth is low and well-integrated; no astringency.

Ao primeiro gole, a magnitude dos seleccionados maltes de trigo e cevada torrados revela-se, sem rodeios. Uma carbonatação vibrante trabalha o paladar e a tradicional levedura Erdinger enfatiza a alta-fermentação que equilibra os sabores torrados e envolventes, com aftertaste final a chocolate amargo, ameixas secas e pão rústico.

Fundada em 1886 na região da Bavária, por Johann Kienle, a Erdinger Weissbräu dá início ao seu percurso de sucesso como produtora de “weizenbier” – weizen (=trigo) bier (cerveja). A família Brombach foi a principal impulsionadora da cervejeira como a conhecemos hoje em dia. O Sr. Franz Brombach tomou posse da cervejeira em 1950, passando o seu legado para o filho em 1975. La excelente calidad de sus cervezas de trigo se ha conseguido a través de su pasión por el perfeccionamiento de las habilidades cerveceras bávaras, consiguiendo que ahora mismo estar presentes en más de 90 países y siendo la cervecería de trigo más grande del planeta. Como cervecería tradicional, no se comprometen en lo que respecta a la Ley de pureza alemana y se centra en primar los ingredientes de primera clase y la pasión por el patrimonio cultural de Baviera en forma de "weissbier".

Cerveza elaborada con maltas tostadas que le dan un sabor y carácter fuerte. Cerveza muy oscura, de abundante espuma beige, en cuyo gusto destacan las maltas de trigo y cebada y los aromas del lúpulo Hallertau. Al gusto destacan las notas de caramelo, nueces y pan fresco.

Maridaje: carnes y asados, especialmente de caza. También la puedes utilizar para maridar carnes, lo que le dará un sabor muy distintivo.

Curiosidad: elaborada por primera vez en 1.989, como regalo de cumpleaños del propietario de la cervecera Werner Brombach, que por lo que le gustó decidió lanzarla al mercando en 1.990.
