The story begins in the late 1970s, in the middle of the Vallée des Fées (the Valley of the Fairies), when two brothers-in-law, Pierre Gobron and Chris Bauweraerts decided to create their own beer in the garage belonging to Chris’ mother-in-law. With the little money they had at the time, they began what the brewery’s fans now call the “Chouffe Story”. The 1st brew of 49 litres was produced on 27 August 1982.

Blond bier Big Chouffe is gebrouwen in brouwerij Achouffe. Dit bier is ongefilterd waardoor de smaak heerlijk fruitig en gekruid is. Het aroma is licht hoppig en dit bier heeft maar liefst een alcoholgehalte van 8% per volume. Dit is een grote variant van 1,5 Liter. Een collector's item voor alle verzamelaars. Heerlijk om met een groep op te drinken, gezelligheid gegarandeerd !
ZICHT/KLEUR
Bij het inschenken ontstaat een romige witte schuimkraag op het goudblonde bier.
GEUR
Fruitige geur van perzik en een frisse kruidigheid van koriander.
SMAAK
Het is een complex bier waar zoet, bitter en fruit strijden om de titel. Het heeft fruitigheid van meloen en citrus en daarnaast is de koriander blijvend aanwezig.
AFDRONK
De afdronk is fris en licht droog, waarbij de hopbitters zich nog even duidelijk laten gelden.
GERECHT
Het bier is bij zalmgerechten een mooie aanvulling.
BIJZONDERHEDEN
La Chouffe in magnum uitvoering! Maar in plaats van een etiket heeft de brouwerij Chouffe voor een seriegrafie gekozen, waardoor de fles een ideaal geschenk is. Deze hoog kwalitatieve afwerking kreeg in 2005 een originele toets met het lanceren van de reeks Collector’s Edition. Elk jaar wordt aan een bekende striptekenaar gevraagd zijn versie van de Achouffe kabouter op de rug van de magnum uitvoering te tekenen.
