Questa incredibile birra è stata invecchiata in botti di quercia selezionate, utilizzate in passato per far maturare l’Highland Park 12 Year Old Single Malt Whisky, aggiungendo note di whisky complementari alla nostra birra dolce-amaro e cioccolatosa.
Ola Dubh 12 è nera con un modesta schiuma che si riduce lentamente, lasciando dietro di sé un’allacciatura da manuale. L’aroma è delizioso; salsa Worcestershire affumicata, cuoio, iodio e bistecca alla griglia. Sapori di malti dolci e affumicati, torba tostata, chicchi di caffè e un finale ben amaricante. Nel complesso si tratta di un infuso piuttosto esotico con un’influenza definita del barile. È raffinata piuttosto che sopra le righe e davvero molto deliziosa.

Ola Dubh Special Reserve 12 is based on award winning Old Engine Oil matured in Highland Park 12 Year Old Whisky Barrels. It retains the appearance of used motor oil deep dark brown, dense and oily. On the nose there are notes of truffle oil and cocoa as well as faint smoke and heathery peat from the whisky casks. Lighter in body than its appearance suggests Ola Dubh is pithy, oily, salty and bitter on the palate. The finish is exceptional burnt and bitter notes with an interplay of late hop characters, orange oil, fruity tartness and then delicate fragrant smoke.
