This legendary Belgian Dubbel presents a masterful balance of monastic tradition and rustic depth. A dark amber pour reveals a complex bouquet of green walnuts, soft orchard fruits, and toasted caramel. On the palate, the malt character is exceptionally deep, evoking the raw, earthy essence of barley husks alongside rich, caramelized sugars. While many Trappist ales lean toward sweetness, this expression is defined by a surprisingly distinct and striking hop bitterness that cleanses the palate. Appearance. Dark amber to deep copper with reddish depths (14-17 SRM). Generally clear with an abundant, dense, and long-lasting off-white head that exhibits strong, persistent lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity with a rich malty core of caramel and toast. Unique notes of green nuts and walnuts complement moderate fruity esters of plum and raisin. Low spicy, peppery phenols and a faint herbal hop presence add complexity.
