Tynt Meadow is the UK’s first ever Trappist Ale and is brewed by the monks at Mount St. Bernard Abbey. Brewed according to traditional recipes dating back hundreds of years. Trappist beers tend to be named after the place in which the monastery is situated. The name ‘Tynt Meadow’ honours the link with a plot of land on which monastic life was refounded in the midlands almost two centuries ago. Tynt Meadow is strong dark ale with a clearly English character. It is mahogany in colour with aromas of dark chocolate, liquorice and rich fruit flavours. It is full bodied and gently balances the flavours of dark chocolate, pepper and fig and leaves a warm and dry finish on the palate. After decades of dairy farming, the monks began to feel this work wasn’t a viable source of income and sought alternative means of supporting the upkeep of the Abbey and its grounds. As a result, the idea of reviving Trappist brewing traditions was born and a redundant part of the 19th century monastery in Leicestershire was transformed into an active brewery. The beer is brewed, bottles and packaged on site The monks at Mount St. Bernard Abbey live by the rule of Saint Benedict, a lifestyle which is summed up by their motto Ora et labora – ‘pray and work’. As monks, they strive to earn their living by working with their hands. They do no receive any subsidies from the church for their living expenses or for the upkeep of their historic buildings. This means that they depend on reliable source of income to continue their life of contemplation, to welcome guests and to help those in need.

Brouwen, bottelen en inpakken gebeurt door de monniken.Sinds 17 september 2018 hebben de monniken bij Tynt Meadow het ATP label verkregen waardoor ze officieel de twaalfde trappist mogen brouwen.Tynt Meadow is een sterk donker bier met een alcoholgehalte van 7,4%. Het bier heeft een geur van chocolade en vijgen, en heeft een volmondige smaak met licht bittere afdronk. Kenners herkennen ook nog toetsen van zoethout en peper.

Celle-ci est appelée « Tynt Meadow », pour honorer le lien avec le terrain sur lequel la vie monastique a été refondée ici dans les Midlands il y a près de deux siècles. Faisant partie de la grande tradition trappiste, le monastère a choisi de produire une bière brune forte, mais avec un caractère clairement anglais.

La Tynt Meadow est de couleur acajou, avec une teinte rouge subtile et chaude et une tête beige durable. Son arôme porte des notes de chocolat noir, de réglisse et de riches saveurs de fruits. La bière est corsée, équilibrant doucement le goût du chocolat noir, du poivre et de la figue. Il laisse une finale chaude et sèche en bouche.

Nazvali jsme naši „Tynt Meadow“, abychom uctili spojení s pozemkem, na kterém se zde v Midlands před téměř dvěma stoletími obnovil klášterní život. Jako součást velké trapistické tradice jsme se rozhodli vyrábět silné tmavé pivo, ale s jasně anglickým charakterem.

Tynt Meadow má mahagonovou barvu, jemný, teplý červený odstín a dlouhotrvající béžovou hlavu. Jeho vůně nese náznaky hořké čokolády, lékořice a bohaté ovocné chuti. Pivo je plné, jemně vyvažuje chuť hořké čokolády, pepře a fíků. Zanechává teplý a suchý závěr na patře.

Tynt Meadow is the UK’s first Trappist Ale, brewed by monks at Mount Saint Bernard Abbey in Leicestershire. It becomes one of only 12 officially recognised Trappist breweries in the world. It takes the learnings and traditions of Trappist breweries, but using English barley, hops and yeast to create an English Trappist Ale unique amongst the other monastic offerings.
