Moersleutel Craft Brewery Wind

This Belgian Dark Strong Ale presents a sophisticated interplay of traditional monastic heritage and modern craft precision. The sensory profile is led by intense red fruit esters—think plums and dried cherries—derived from a renowned Trappist yeast strain. Luxurious cassonade sugar imparts a warm, bakery-like character that melds with deep caramel malt notes, while the addition of Tango hops provides a contemporary, fresh bitterness that provides essential balance. At 12% ABV, the beer is velvety and smooth, offering a lingering warmth and a complex, harmonized finish of dark fruit and spicy phenols that define this refined Belgian Quadrupel.
Appearance. Deep coppery-brown with excellent clarity. It supports a massive, dense, and persistent light tan head with fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Rich bready-toasty malt and deep caramel are layered with bakery-like scents of brown sugar. Strong esters of raisins, figs, and red cherries dominate, complemented by low spicy phenols of black pepper and a soft, perfumy alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial rich maltiness is followed by complex flavors of dried dates and plums. The cassonade sugar adds a toasted, sugary depth without being cloying. Tango hops introduce a moderate, clean bitterness that offsets the malt sweetness, leading to a smooth, moderately dry finish with a lingering spicy, fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a velvety, creamy texture. Carbonation is high but smooth, not prickly. Significant but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, enhancing the beer's substantial character.
