This Munich Helles is elevated by its conditioning in oak foeders, which imparts a subtle depth to the classic German profile. It opens with a sophisticated bouquet of grainy-sweet Pilsner malt complemented by the elegant, spicy and herbal qualities of Saaz and Tettnang hops. The foeder aging introduces a refined, woody nuance and a rounded softness that smooths out the palate. Golden and clear, it balances a gentle malty sweetness with a restrained bitterness, concluding in a clean, soft finish that highlights both the traditional noble hop character and the unique maturity provided by wood conditioning.
Appearance. Brilliant pale gold (4 SRM) with excellent clarity. Features a dense, persistent creamy white head with fine lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring grainy-sweet malt. Low to moderately-low spicy and herbal hop notes from Saaz and Tettnang. A faint, clean woody presence from the foeder adds complexity without being overtly oaky. Clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impression is moderately malty and smooth. Dominant grainy-sweet malt flavors are well-supported by low spicy and floral hop notes. Bitterness is restrained, allowing the malt to lead. The foeder aging contributes a slight structural depth and a very subtle rounding of the edges. Finishes soft and dry with a clean, lingering malt character.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a very smooth, well-lagered texture. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle prickle. No alcoholic warmth and zero astringency.
