Kasteel Brouwerij Vanhonsebrouck

Filou presents as a classic Belgian Tripel, balancing high-gravity muscle with an approachable, easy-drinking nature. The foundation of Pilsen malt provides a soft, honeyed sweetness that supports a complex bouquet of spicy phenols and citrusy esters. Aromatic Belgian and Czech hops introduce a floral and herbal layer, offering a refined, subtle bitterness that offsets the initial malt presence. Despite its 8.5% ABV, the alcohol is expertly integrated, appearing as a gentle, spicy warmth rather than a sharp burn. Effervescent and dry, it finishes with a lingering play of orchard fruit and peppery spice, embodying a deceptive and "filou-ish" elegance.

Appearance. Deep yellow to gold in color (approx 6 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a long-lasting, creamy, rocky white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity featuring grainy-sweet Pilsen malt and a honey-like backdrop. Complex yeast profile of peppery phenols and citrusy esters (orange and lemon). Subtle floral and herbal hop notes from the Czech and Belgian varieties are present.

Taste. Initial soft, grainy-sweet maltiness followed by a wave of spicy yeast character and light orchard fruit. Hop bitterness is moderate and firm, balancing the malt without being harsh. The finish is remarkably dry and clean, with a lingering peppery and floral aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body that feels lighter due to high carbonation and a dry finish. Highly effervescent and crisp. Alcohol warmth is well-integrated and deceptive, providing a light glow rather than heat.

Het resultaat is een sterk blond bier dat best ondeugend kan zijn, maar altijd zonder kwade bedoelingen. Een echte allemansvriend dus!Brouwerij Van Honsebrouck:is een brouwerij in het West-Vlaamse Emelgem. De oorspronkelijke brouwerij van de familie Van Honsebrouck bevond zich in het nabijgelegen Ingelmunster, vierde in 2000 zijn honderdjarige bestaan en is vooral bekend om zijn speciaalbieren Kasteelbier, St. Louis en Brigand. Oorsprong en geschiedenis: De geschiedenis van de Ingelmunsterse brouwerij begint in 1900. Emiel en Louisa Van Honsebrouck kopen dan een kleine boerderij waar ze een brouwerij stichten. De brouwerij blijft in familiebezit wanneer Paul en Ernest Van Honsebrouck in 1922 de beide stichters opvolgen. Er worden voornamelijk ondergistende bieren gebrouwen, zoals pils, bruin en export. In 1953 volgt Luc Van Honsebrouck Paul en Ernest op en dankzij zijn ideeën wordt de brouwerij bekend. Men besluit zich te specialiseren in het brouwen van bieren met een hoge gisting, zoals Bacchus. Vier jaar later start men ook met het steken van geuze. In 2010 werd Luc op zijn beurt opgevolgd door zijn zoon Xavier. Onder het bewind van deze laatste werd in 2016 een nieuwe brouwerij met bezoekerscentrum onder de naam Kasteel Brouwerij Van Honsebrouck in gebruik genomen in het nabijgelegen Emelgem. De oorspronkelijke brouwerij in Ingelmunster werd vervolgens afgebroken. Bieren: Er wordt een groot assortiment aan speciaalbieren gebrouwen. Na Bacchus en Gueuze St.-Louis volgen Kriek Lambic, Premium Kriek , Premium Pêche, Premium Framboise, Brigand, Filou en Kasteelbier. Laatstgenoemde is een van de zwaardere bieren die brouwerij Van Honsebrouck produceert. Er zijn vijf soorten Kasteelbier: de Kasteel Tripel en Kasteel Donker, bevatten allebei 11% vol. alcohol, de Kasteel Rouge (8%), de Kasteel Blond (7%) en tenslotte de Kasteel Hoppy (6.5%). Verder volgt dan nog Cuvée Du Château, die de smaak heeft van een op fles verouderde Kasteel Donker, Trignac XII en Barista Chocolate Quad. Het assortiment van St. Louis bestaat grotendeels uit fruitbieren zoals Kriek, Framboise en Pêche. Als ‘specialiteit van het huis’ gelden Bacchus, Vlaamsch Wit en K8. In 2014 werd het bier Passchendaele gelanceerd, ter gelegenheid van de 100e verjaardag van de Eerste Wereldoorlog. De bieren van deze brouwerij mogen sinds 2012 het logo "Belgische Hop-Houblon Belge–Belgian Hops" dragen. Dit kwaliteitslabel werd in september 2011 gelanceerd en wordt enkel toegekend aan bieren die gebrouwen worden met minimum 50% Belgische hop.

Brewery VanhonsebrouckIn the hands of the Bosteels family for over 200 years, the brewery relies today on the craftmanship of seven generations. In 1791, Jean-Baptist Bosteels established the brewery, and has been followed by generations who took over the brewery and never stop brewing, even during the world wars. At that time, the brewery played such an important role in the town, the family Bosteels were such influential people that we are not surprised that 3 of the 7 generations have been Town Mayors. In the year 1930’s Antoine Bosteels, 5th generation, carried on the brewing dynasty and played an important role expanding the sales of the Bosteels Pils into other regions such as Ghent, Antwerp and Brussels. His son Ivo Bosteels honored the iconic beer of Pauwel Kwak by bringing it back to the market in 1980; this is the beginning of the strong beers for Brewery Bosteels. In the year 1990, Ivo’s son, Antoine Bosteels, the 7th generation, understood the potential of strong speciality beers and especially the trend for blond ones. Driven by passion of the art of brewing and guided by his creativity, Antoine is at the roots of the succes of Tripel Karmeliet and DeuS Brut des Flandres.
