Duvel Tripel Hop Cashmere is a sophisticated Specialty IPA that balances the robust, dark-malted depths of its style with a vibrant tropical storm of modern hop aromatics. The signature addition of the Washington-grown Cashmere hop—a descendant of Cascade and Northern Brewer—introduces an exotic fusion of creamy coconut, sun-ripened peach, and fresh melon. While the traditional herbal spice of Saaz and Styrian Golding provides a foundational structure, the dry-hopping process elevates the citrus-led intensity. Retaining the dry, effervescent soul of a classic Duvel, this expression delivers a firm bitterness and a graceful, warming 9.5% ABV presence through its complex, lingering finish.
Appearance. Dark brown to deep ebony (SRM 30-40). Persistent, light tan to tan head with good lacing. Clear clarity despite the dark color.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring sweet melon, peach, and tropical coconut from Cashmere hops, supported by floral and spicy notes of Saaz and Styrian Golding. Low malt character with hints of toast and light chocolate. Clean fermentation.
Taste. Initial impact of citrus, melon, and peach hop flavors. Low to medium malt flavor provides a base of toasted bread and subtle chocolate without roasted harshness. High bitterness (IBU 50-90 range) leads to a dry, slightly bitter finish with a light roast aftertaste. Background alcohol is noticeable but integrated.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth texture. Medium to medium-high carbonation. Noticeable alcohol warmth due to the 9.5% strength, but without being hot or fusel.
