Die eigene Interpretation eines Californian Pale Ale setzt sich aus den Malzsorten Spring Blend, Cara und Crystal Malz zusammen. Beim Hopfen setzt Brewdog auf Simcoe, Citra und HBC. Daraus ergibt sich ein starkes Hopfenaroma, das durch florale Aromen und Zitrusnoten ergänzt wird. Die leichte Hopfenbitternis stellt dabei eine überzeugende Ergänzung zum eher zarten Malzgeschmack dar.

Eén slok van onze West Coast Session Pale Ale en je bent meteen klaarwakker. Dead Pony Club is zacht qua volume, met een stevige kick van hop-tonen, die weerklinken van hier tot de Pacific en weer terug. Verlies jezelf in de aroma's van citrus, citroengras en geraspte limoenschil. Geroosterde mout vormt de basis waarop een enorme hopgolf op deint, gevolgd door tongstrelende ondertonen van tropisch fruit, bloemen en kruiden. Brewdog
De Schotse oprichters van BrewDog, Martin Dickie en James Watt, raken op een gegeven moment verveeld van de industrieel gebrouwen bieren, zoals de lagers en de ales, die de markt domineren. De twee nemen het heft in eigen hand en besluiten hun eigen bieren te gaan brouwen. Zo wordt BrewDog in april 2007 geboren.
BrewDog groeit explosief en wordt in een mum van tijd zo succesvol, dat Martin en James op zoek moeten naar een nieuwe locatie. Via crowdfunding wordt uiteindelijk een nieuwe brouwerij gefinancierd in Ellon, 25 kilometer ten noorden van Aberdeen. Het is een van de meest technologisch geavanceerde en milieuvriendelijke brouwerijen ter wereld.
In 2010 opende de brouwerij een eerste bar in Aberdeen, in 2011 gevolgd door bars in Edinburgh, Glasgow en Londen. In 2011 had de brouwerij 67 mensen in dienst en haalde een jaarcapaciteit van 26.750 hl. In 2010 werd James Watt in Schotland verkozen tot ondernemer van het jaar.
In 2017 opende BrewDog een brouwerij in Columbus, Ohio en recentelijk in 2019 een brouwerij in het Australische Brisbane. Wederom via crowdfundig gefinancierd.

La Dead Pony Club è una american pale ale prodotta da Brewdog, lanciata nel 2001 attraverso la consueta irriverenza del birrificio scozzese. Questa birra è di difficile collocazione stilistica, a cavallo tra lo stile session IPA, californian pale ale e session pale ale. Dal colore ambrato e dalla schiuma bianca fine e compatta, la Dead Pony Club è incentrata sulle intense note fruttate e agrumate di pesca, pompelmo, mango, frutto della passione, limone e kiwi, donate dai luppoli Simcoe, Citra e Mosaic. Questa birra ha un corpo leggero e un aroma di caramello che bilancia gli aromi fruttati e floreali dei luppoli. Brewdog è un birrificio scozzese nato nel 2006 da un’idea di James Watt e Martin Dickie, due amici che decidono di aprire un birrificio a Fraserburgh, nell’Aberdeenshire. Nel 2007 viene immessa sul mercato la loro prima birra, la Punk IPA, ed è un successo in tutto il mondo.

La filosofia del birrificio scozzese è quella di affrontare il settore della birra artigianale in maniera aggressiva e irriverente, con campagne di guerrilla marketing, una comunicazione originale e sfrontata, grafiche di grande impatto, iniziative originali e produzioni di birre icone ed estreme. Nascono così alcune birre che sono delle dimostrazioni di grande impatto, come la Tactical Nuclear Penguin da 32%, la Sink the Bismarck da 41% e la The End of History da 55%. Accanto a queste “prove di forza” vi sono produzioni di birre molto beverine e che riscontrano il favore del pubblico di mezzo mondo.

Oggi Brewdog è uno dei brand più famosi nel mondo, conta tre impianti di produzione, una cinquantina di birre prodotte, una linea di distillati e poco meno di un centinaio di pub in tutto il mondo.
