ORYGINAŁ OD POCZĄTKU
Westmalle Tripel został po raz pierwszy uwarzony w 1934 roku. Ta „matka wszystkich tripelów” jest światowym odniesieniem do stylu i zainspirowała wielu piwowarów. Westmalle Tripel zostało wprowadzone w momencie otwarcia nowej hali browarniczej opactwa. Receptura została dostosowana w 1956 roku, ale od tego czasu receptura pozostała niezmieniona.
Westmalle Tripel został dodany do asortymentu w latach 30. XX wieku. „Tripel” odnosi się do faktu, że składniki są używane w ilościach większych niż zwykle. Innymi słowy, ta silna blondynka zawiera trzy razy więcej składników niż oryginalne piwo Westmalle Trappist. Inni browary przyjęli od tego czasu nazwę „tripel” dla swoich piw.
