Straffe Hendrik Heritage is a special variety of the Straffe Hendrik Quadrupel, as it is a one year oak barrel aged beer. The beer is brewed in autumn and is only available in a limited edition. The taste and fragrance of the beer are very complex and evolve through the years. The tannin from the barrels blends exquisitely with the special malts in the beer. The combination of the spiciness and bitterness of the Quadrupel with the subtle taste of wine and wood from the barrels is inimitable. Liquorice and dark fruits like raisins, prunes and figs can also be discovered. With age the beer will develop a hint of port as well.

De Halve MaanDe Halve Maan Brewing Company is a family brewery in the heart of Bruges, Belgium. The brewery was restarted and refined by Veronique Maes in 2005. With unique beer recipe on the work, the brewery was renamed as ‘Brugse Zot’. Brugse Zot beer became the only beer that is personally brewed in the town center of Bruges. The Brugse Zot and Straffe Hendrik beers are two of the brewery’s finest types of beers. Straffe Hendrik beer is filled with bitter ale while the Brugse Zot is rich in fruity flavor along with different types of malts and hoppy aromas.

The launch of Straffe Hendrik – still the brewery’s flagship beer – heralded the era of strong degustation beers at De Halve Maan.
Its brewer is the oldest in Bruges, based in its historic city centre, and also well known for its Brugse Zot Blonde and Donker (dark). De Halve Maan has been brewing for five centuries.
