Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore... Up until the 1940's, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created. Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

Schneider Weisse Aventinus è una Weizen Doppelbock prodotta dal birrificio Schneider & Sohn in Baviera.

Si tratta di una birra scura ad alta fermentazione che viene prodotta utilizzando tre malti, di cui il 60% è grano.

Al naso è molto morbida con aromi fruttati, di frumento e di chiodi di garofano. Al palato è fruttata e corposa con note di caramello e nocciola. Si conclude in un finale amarognolo.

Ottima con un tagliere di salumi e formaggi o con carne bianca alla griglia.

Tra le birre di frumento più complesse e alcoliche che si possano trovare sul mercato. Unisce le caratteristiche di una weiss a quelle di una birra scura, molto corposa, con intense note caramellate e che scalda durante la bevuta, facendo percepire tutta la sua gradazione alcolica. A tutto questo si aggiungono i tipici sentori di banana e chiodi di garofano del lievito weiss. La leggenda vuole che sia nata quasi per caso e che poi i birrai abbiano continuato a produrla seguendo i metodi dello stile eisbock in cui la birra viene ghiacciata durante la maturazione per mantenerne solo la parte con maggiore concentrazione di alcol, malto e aromi aumentando così la gradazione (per fare questo l’operazione detta di crioconcentrazione viene ripetuta anche più volte).
