LERVIG is een onafhankelijke ambachtelijke brouwerij in Stavanger, Noorwegen. We produceren een breed scala aan bieren, van gemakkelijk drinkbare pilseners en pale ales tot gedurfde en complexe vatgerijpte stouts, gerstewijnen en zuren. Ons doel is om de beste bieren ter wereld te brouwen en om dat te doen houden we vast aan onze overtuigingen en brouwen we zelf de bieren die we graag drinken. We zijn er trots op een brouwerij te zijn die kwaliteit nooit opoffert voor economie en we werken constant buiten onze comfortzone. We reizen graag de wereld rond en laten ons inspireren door nieuwe dingen te proeven en samen te werken met brouwers van wereldklasse. We zijn een brouwerij die niet bang is om gemakkelijk drinkbare alledaagse bieren aan te bieden, noch om de tijd te nemen om enorme vatgerijpte stouts en complexe gemengde gefermenteerde zuren te brouwen. We doen dit allemaal, en we doen het naar beste vermogen.

Az Imperial Stout alkoholosabb, szárazabb, csokisabb a sima stouthoz képest, rendkívül gazdag, édes, telt malátajelleggel. A keserűség származhat pörkölt malátákból vagy komló hozzáadásából. Eredetileg az Orosz cári családnak szánták.
A Stout a porter szárazabb, sötétebb, testesebb erősebb leszármazottja. Színben nagyon hasonlóak, a stoutokban azonban sokkal több a karamellizált pörkölt maláta és a kávés ízvilág, valamint édeskésebbek is. A stout szó első ismert használata egy 1677-ben keltezett, az Egerton Manuscripts-ban talált dokumentumban, amely a sör erősségére utal. 1721-ben használták először a porter nevet egy pörkölt malátával készült sötétbarna sör leírására. A porterek hatalmas népszerűsége miatt a sörfőzők többféle erősségben készítették őket. Az erősebb, jellemzően 7 vagy 8 %-os alkoholtartalmú söröket "stout porter"-nek nevezték, így a stout és a porter története és fejlődése összefonódott.
