This Belgian Golden Strong Ale is a sophisticated expression of the style, elevated by the Champagne method to achieve a remarkably effervescent and refined character. Despite its potent 11% alcohol by volume, the beer maintains a deceptive lightness and elegant profile. The sensory experience is defined by a complex bouquet of pear esters and floral hops, underpinned by a soft, grainy-sweet Pilsner malt foundation. Naturally bottle-conditioned with live selected yeasts, it presents a bone-dry finish where peppery phenols and a smooth, warming alcohol presence converge. The result is a sparkling, high-gravity masterpiece that balances strength with a crisp, refreshing palate.
Appearance. Pale yellow to deep gold (3-6 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Features an exceptionally massive, rocky white head with excellent retention and characteristic Belgian lacing. Highly effervescent with fine, rising bubbles.
Aroma. High intensity bouquet featuring prominent pome fruit esters, specifically ripe pear. The malt character is low and nearly neutral, showing slight grainy-sweet notes. Hop aroma is moderate with herbal and floral qualities. Noticeable peppery phenols and a perfumy, well-integrated alcohol presence are evident.
Taste. Initial impression is fruity and hoppy with a nearly neutral malt base. High pear-like esters and peppery alcohol flavors are balanced by moderate herbal hop notes. Bitterness is medium-high but feels more pronounced due to the high attenuation. The finish is long and remarkably dry, leaving a clean, spicy aftertaste without any lingering cloying sweetness.
Mouthfeel. Light to medium body, appearing much lighter than the 11% ABV would suggest. Very high carbonation creates a sparkling, effervescent mouthfeel. Alcohol warmth is noticeable and smooth, providing a pleasant glow without being solventy or harsh.
