Hop Creature is a Hazy Double IPA that captures the essence of a modern Strong American Ale. At 8.4% ABV, it presents an opaque, straw-colored body topped by a dense, persistent white head. The aroma is saturated with high-intensity notes of ripe mango, passion fruit, and bright tangerine, supported by a subtle, bready malt backbone. On the palate, the flavor profile mirrors the nose with layers of tropical juice and resinous citrus, leading to a firm but smooth bitterness. The finish is remarkably clean and dry for its strength, featuring a soft, pillowy mouthfeel and a gentle, warming alcohol presence.
Appearance. Opaque and hazy, ranging from pale straw to light orange (6-8 SRM). Features a thick, creamy, and persistent off-white head with significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by tropical fruit (mango, guava) and stone fruit (peach), accompanied by zestful citrus notes. A low, neutral, bready malt character sits in the background. Clean fermentation with very low esters and a hint of smooth, well-integrated alcohol.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical and citrus hop flavors, followed by a soft, grainy malt support. Bitterness is moderately high but remains smooth on the tongue, avoiding any harshness. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering resinous and fruity aftertaste. Highly complex yet balanced, lacking the heavy residual sweetness of a barleywine.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a creamy, soft, and pillowy texture. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle lift. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without being hot or solventy.
