Verdant’s 2026 edition of Putty is a quintessential Double IPA, celebrated for its signature pillowy texture and unmistakable haze. An intense aromatic profile driven by Mosaic, Galaxy, and Azacca hops explodes with notes of overripe mango, passionfruit, and zesty citrus. At 8% ABV, the beer carries a gentle, well-integrated warmth that supports a dense, juice-like palate. This iconic release balances a soft, low-astringency bitterness with massive tropical fruit saturation, finishing with a lingering resinous character. It represents a masterclass in hop-forward intensity, delivering a smooth, lush experience that remains clean and remarkably drinkable despite its strength.
Appearance. Pale gold to light orange (6-8 SRM). Deeply hazy to opaque. Features a thick, creamy, white head with excellent persistence and dense lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Prominent waves of tropical fruit—specifically mango, pineapple, and passionfruit—intermingle with bright citrus notes of grapefruit and orange peel. A very low, neutral, grainy malt presence stays in the background. Clean fermentation profile with a hint of smooth alcohol.
Taste. Dominant hop flavors of tropical fruit and stone fruit, mirroring the aroma. Initial impression is of sweet citrus juice followed by a soft, moderately high bitterness that lacks any harshness or hop burn. The malt character is supportive and bready but unobtrusive. The finish is medium-dry with a long-lasting, resinous tropical aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a distinctively pillowy, soft, and creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. Displays a well-integrated, smooth alcohol warmth without being solventy. Low astringency.
