Tripel Karmeliet is still brewed to an authentic beer recipe from 1679 originating in the former Carmelite monastery in Dendermonde. Written over 300 years ago, this recipe describes the use of three kinds of grain: wheat, oats and barley.
The name Tripel karmeliet thus refers both to its origin and its in-bottle refermentation. From many trial brews of multigrain tripels carried out at our brewery in the 90s, it appears that the particular historic combination of the 3 kinds of grain still remains the ideal blend.

La Tripel Karmeliet è un classico delle birre belghe. Secondo il birrificio, la ricetta usata è la stessa dal 1679. All’epoca la Karmeliet veniva prodotta nel monastero carmelitano di Dendermonde. E’ una birra ad alta fermentazione e rifermentata in bottiglia che già all’epoca aveva la particolarità di essere prodotta con tre cereali: orzo, frumento e avena. E’ dai suoi ingredienti che prende il nome. Questa birra belga ha un colore dorato e una schiuma cremosa. Al naso è raffinata e complessa. Troviamo così note di vaniglia e di banana e lievito miscelato con aromi di agrumi di luppolo Styrian. In bocca persistono vari tipi di cereali che si associano alle note luppolate dello Styrian. La consistenza sia asciutta che cremosa rende deliziosamente equilibrata questa Triple Karmeliet. Affinchè possa sviluppare al meglio la sua complessità aromatica,
