Kerfuffle (2021) presents a vibrant sensory collision of sun-ripened fruit and complex barrel-aged character. This Golden Sour Beer radiates a brilliant rose-gold hue, releasing a high-intensity bouquet where the jammy essence of strawberries meets the sharp, floral tartness of raspberries. Underneath the fruit, a signature wild fermentation offers rustic notes of weathered oak, earthy Brettanomyces funk, and a clean, puckering lactic acidity. On the palate, the fruit flavors are fermented bone-dry, supported by soft tannins from extended oak barrel aging. The finish is effervescent and crisp, leaving a lingering impression of tart red berries and a sophisticated woody structure.

Appearance. SRM 8-12; rose-gold to deep pinkish-orange with a slight haze. Pours with a moderate, pink-tinted head that shows moderate to low retention, common for the style.

Aroma. High intensity with a dominant profile of fresh raspberries and jammy strawberries. Strong lactic tartness is balanced by complex wild yeast notes of hay and leather, complemented by a subtle vanilla and toasted wood character from the oak barrels.

Taste. Sharp, clean lactic acidity leads the palate, followed by intense fruit flavors of tart raspberry and strawberry skins. The beer is fermented dry, leaving no residual fruit sweetness. Hop bitterness is absent, allowing the fruit acidity and soft oak tannins to provide balance. The finish is very dry and crisp with lingering notes of wild funk and red berries.
