This West Coast Double IPA delivers a classic, resinous profile defined by a bold hop presence and a remarkably clean finish. The aroma is dominated by intense notes of grapefruit zest, sticky pine, and a touch of floral spice, all supported by a lean, neutral malt backbone. On the palate, a firm bitterness takes center stage, offering deep flavors of resin and citrus pith without the cloying sweetness often found in higher-gravity ales. At 8.5% ABV, it maintains a smooth, well-integrated warmth that enhances its drinkability, finishing bone-dry with a lingering, crisp bitterness typical of the style.
Appearance. Deep gold to light copper with brilliant clarity. Topped by a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head that leaves intricate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of resinous pine, grapefruit peel, and subtle floral tones. The malt character is neutral and grainy in the background, with a very clean fermentation profile and a light hint of well-integrated alcohol.
Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors of citrus and pine lead into a moderately high bitterness that is assertive but not harsh. A low, supportive malt presence provides a hint of toasted grain. The beer finishes very dry and clean, with a long, hoppy, and bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, even texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively mouthfeel. A restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present, reflecting its strength without being solventy.
