This massive Imperial Stout, a collaboration between Tempest and Sudden Death, offers a decadent sensory experience. It opens with an intense bouquet of rich cacao, sweet vanilla cream, and deep toffee notes derived from rye crystal. The appearance is a striking jet black with a dense, mocha-colored head and noticeable viscosity. On the palate, a luscious, sticky body driven by flaked oats delivers layers of dark chocolate and vanilla, punctuated by a subtle hint of sea salt that sharpens the complex malt profile. Significant alcohol warmth is well-integrated, leading to a long, bittersweet finish that balances roasted depth with dessert-like richness.

Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+). Pours with a thick, persistent deep tan to mocha-colored head that leaves significant lacing. High viscosity is apparent in the glass, with visible legs forming due to the high alcohol content.

Aroma. High intensity and deeply complex. Dominant notes of dark chocolate and cacao nibs meld with prominent, sweet vanilla bean and rich toffee. Subtle spicy rye character and dark fruit esters like dried plum or raisin are present. Alcohol is noticeable but smooth, providing a pleasant warmth without sharpness.

Taste. Initial impression of decadent chocolate sauce and vanilla cream. The malt provides deep layers of toffee, burnt sugar, and a hint of spicy rye crystal. Medium-high bitterness is present but largely softened by the high residual sweetness and creamy flaked oats. A touch of sea salt enhances the cocoa flavors and increases the perceived depth of the malt. The finish is lingering, sweet, and warming with a final note of roasted grain.

Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a chewy, velvety, and characteristically sticky texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. Significant alcohol warmth is present, reflecting the 11.5% ABV, but it remains smooth and integrated on the palate. No harsh astringency.
