This Double IPA radiates a vibrant, modern hop profile driven by the synergy of Citra and Nelson Sauvin. The nose is greeted by an intense rush of grapefruit zest and lime from the Citra, seamlessly entwined with the distinct crushed white grape and passionfruit notes of Nelson Sauvin. On the palate, a lean, neutral malt backbone provides a clean canvas for layers of tropical fruit and a refined, gooseberry-like character. Despite its 8% ABV, the beer remains remarkably drinkable, finishing dry with a firm, resinous bitterness that lingers alongside a subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth. It is a luminous example of hop-forward intensity.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper with brilliant clarity and a moderate, persistent white head that leaves fine lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent grapefruit, mango, and lime zest from the Citra, complemented by Nelson Sauvin’s signature white wine, gooseberry, and tropical passionfruit notes. Background malt is neutral and grainy-sweet with a clean fermentation profile and a hint of smooth ethanol.
Taste. Initial hop-forward punch of citrus peel and white grape. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of melon and stone fruit. Medium-high bitterness is firm but clean, lacking harshness. A low, soft malt presence supports the hops without adding sweetness. Finishes dry and crisp with a lingering resinous and tropical fruit aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Medium-high carbonation provides a lively mouthfeel. Alcohol warmth is restrained and smooth, not solventy or hot. No hop-derived astringency.
