This formidable Double IPA showcases a vibrant dialogue between Nelson and Citra hops. At a potent 10% ABV, it leads with an intense aromatic profile of crushed white grapes, gooseberry, and tropical mango. The sensory experience is dominated by the Nelson hops' characteristic Sauvignon Blanc-like quality, bolstered by the bright citrus and lychee notes of Citra. A lean, neutral malt backbone provides necessary structure without distracting from the hop intensity. It finishes remarkably dry with a firm, clean bitterness and a smooth, sophisticated alcohol warmth that underscores its formidable strength and high drinkability.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange with a slight modern haze; features a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of white wine, gooseberry, and passionfruit, alongside citrus zest, mango, and a hint of pine. Low, neutral, grainy malt support in the background with a clean fermentation profile and smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors dominated by tropical fruit, lime, and crushed green grapes. The bitterness is high but smooth and lacking harshness.
