Silly Scotch is a robust Wee Heavy that balances indulgent malt depth with a refined, warming finish. It pours a deep copper-red with a persistent beige head. The olfactory profile is rich and complex, leading with bready brioche and honeyed notes, accented by distinct layers of raisins, fruit jam, and a surprising lift of fresh raspberry. On the palate, a liqueur-like viscosity carries flavors of pronounced caramel and prunes, eventually yielding to a subtle, roasted coffee character. Despite its 8% ABV and generous malt backbone, the alcohol provides a clean, surprising balance that prevents a cloying sensation.
Appearance. Light copper to deep reddish-brown (14–25 SRM) with brilliant clarity and ruby highlights. It features a large, dense, beige-colored head with moderate retention and visible legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity of bready-toasty malt and brioche, featuring rich caramelized sugar and honey. Significant dark fruit esters are present, specifically raisins and plum jam, with a unique highlight of fresh raspberry. A very low, supportive hint of roasted malt or coffee is detectable.
Taste. Initial impression is sweet and rich, dominated by honey, caramel, and full bready-toasty malt flavors. The fruit character is moderate to high, with notes of prunes and dried berries. Bitterness is low, allowing the malt and smooth alcohol to provide balance. The finish is surprisingly medium-dry and refreshing, leaving a lingering note of roasted grain.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full to full-bodied with a thick, liqueur-like viscosity and creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. A well-integrated, smooth alcohol warmth is present throughout, without being harsh or fusel.
