This Double IPA showcases an explosive aromatic profile driven by a triple dry-hop regimen of Nelson, Galaxy, Motueka, and Nectaron Cryo hops. The sensory experience is dominated by intense layers of white currant, passion fruit, and crushed lime zest, supported by the distinctive stone fruit character of Nectaron. A neutral, grainy malt backbone provides a soft platform for the aggressive hop saturation without introducing distracting sweetness or heavy caramel notes. On the palate, a firm but smooth bitterness balances the tropical fruit esters, leading to a crisp, dry finish. It exemplifies a modern approach to the style, prioritizing vibrant hop oils and clean fermentation.
Appearance. Deep gold color (approx. 7 SRM) with a slight, persistent haze from the intensive dry-hopping. Features a dense, creamy, off-white head with excellent retention and significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aromatics featuring gooseberry and white grape (Nelson), citrus-lime (Motueka), and ripe peach (Nectaron). Background notes of passion fruit (Galaxy) are supported by a very low, clean, crackery malt presence and neutral fermentation.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical and citrus fruit. A moderately-high bitterness is present but remains smooth and well-integrated, following the hop-forward character of passion fruit and lime. Malt flavor is low and neutral, ensuring a dry, crisp finish with a lingering resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a lively prickle that highlights the hop oils. Alcohol warmth is well-restrained, smooth, and integrated without any harshness.
