This modern American Pale Ale presents a vibrant sensory profile driven by the innovative combination of HBC 1019 and Idaho 7 hops. The aroma is dominated by a unique and intense coconut character, which transitions into a palate featuring sharp grapefruit and subtle melon notes. Visually, the beer is pale and foggy, a direct result of the generous addition of oats in the mash. While the oats contribute a velvety viscosity to the texture, the beer remains remarkably light and refreshing. It concludes with a distinctly dry finish, where the citrusy hop sharpness provides a clean, thirst-quenching crispness.
Appearance. Pale straw to light gold (4–6 SRM). It features a foggy, hazy clarity with an opaque quality due to heavy oat usage. The head is moderately large, white, and creamy with good retention.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent creamy coconut and tropical fruit from HBC 1019, complemented by citrusy and slightly resinous notes from Idaho 7. Malt character is low and neutral, with a soft, grainy-sweet scent from the oats. Fermentation is clean with negligible esters.
Taste. Initial flavors of bright grapefruit and citrus zest lead into a mid-palate of mild melon and lingering coconut. The malt flavor is low to moderate, providing a neutral, bready foundation. Bitterness is moderate and well-balanced, supporting the hop-forward profile without becoming harsh. The finish is distinctly dry and clean with a refreshing, citrusy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light to medium body with a unique silky viscosity provided by the oats. Carbonation is moderate to high, creating a lively feel. Alcohol warmth is very low and well-integrated; the overall sensation is smooth and refreshing without astringency.

Hazy Pale Ale, 13° Plato, 5.7% ABV. Nová variace na naši pravidelnou jarní várku Hazy Pale Ale vařenou pro naše dobré přátele z Black Dog Baru v Berouně. Použili jsme chmely HBC 1019 a Idaho 7 k vytvoření výrazně suchého a svěžího citrusového ejlu s intenzivní vůní kokosu, která přechází do ostrého grapefruitu a jemného melounu na patře. Pivo má světle zakalený vzhled díky velkému množství ovesných vloček v sypání a vyznačuje se chuťově hutným, avšak jinak lehkým a osvěžujícím tělem. A new iteration on our long running Black Dog Spring seasonal beer, made for our good friends at Black Dog Bar in Beroun. We used HBC 1019 and Idaho 7 to create a distinctly dry and fresh citrusy pale ale with strong coconut on the nose that leads into sharp grapefruit and mild melon on the palate. It features a pale and foggy visage, due to the large amount of oats in the mash, with a viscous, light and refreshing body.
