A refreshing English Coffee Porter that masterfully balances a complex grist of Maris Otter and Pale Chocolate malts with a vibrant dry-beaning of Ethiopian and Santos Cioccolatato coffee. The presence of Golden Naked Oats provides a smooth, creamy foundation for the layered roast profile. Aromas of freshly ground beans and cocoa transition into a palate rich with toasted nuts and dark chocolate, while Challenger hops offer a delicate herbal counterpoint. This collaboration with Fazenda CAFFE delivers a sophisticated fusion where the bright, fruit-toned acidity of the coffee complements the deep, bready sweetness of the traditional English malt base.

Appearance. Deep mahogany to near-black (SRM 30–35) with a dense, creamy, tan-colored head that exhibits excellent persistence and lacing. The beer is generally clear, though the oats may impart a very slight, healthy sheen.

Aroma. High intensity of freshly roasted coffee, featuring both the bright, floral-berry notes of Ethiopian beans and the nutty, cocoa-heavy character of Santos. This is layered over a base of toasted malt and Pale Chocolate, with a subtle biscuity sweetness from Maris Otter. Low herbal hop notes and faint fruity esters are present.

Taste. The initial impression is a crisp wave of coffee flavor, followed by the rich, bready, and nutty depth of Maris Otter. Pale Chocolate malt contributes smooth cocoa notes without harsh acridity. Hop bitterness from Challenger is moderate and well-integrated, balancing the malt sweetness. The finish is clean and lingering, with a pleasant aftertaste of dark chocolate and cold-brew coffee.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable creaminess and silkiness derived from the Golden Naked Oats. Carbonation is moderate. There is no significant astringency from the coffee or roasted grains, and a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.

È interessante notare che il caffè viene aggiunto attraverso un processo chiamato "dry beaning", simile al dry hopping ma con chicchi di caffè, che vengono tostati lo stesso giorno della produzione.

La birra in fase di maturazione a freddo ha ricevuto un “dry beaning”, ovvero un dry hopping di chicchi di caffè, rimossi dopo 48h di contatto. Due le varietà: Etiope e Santos Cioccolatato Brasile.
Questi favolosi chicchi sono stati tostati artigianalmente per Shire da Fazenda CAFFE ed usati lo stesso giorno a poche ore dalla tostatura!
