This English Pale Ale presents a robust malt-forward profile driven by a triple-malt bill of premium German barley malt. It balances traditional European monastery influences with an artisanal approach, delivering a deep aromatic foundation of toasted bread and subtle biscuit. The double fermentation process, including natural conditioning in the bottle, provides a lively carbonation that lifts earthy and floral hop notes. Despite its roots in the Ordinary Bitter style, the elevated strength offers a more substantial structure, showcasing a clean fermentation profile with mild fruity esters and a crisp, decidedly bitter finish that remains smooth and refined.
Appearance. Pale amber to light copper color (approximately 10-12 SRM). Features a moderate, off-white head with fair retention. Displays brilliant clarity when properly decanted, though it may appear hazy if the bottle-conditioned yeast is disturbed.
Aroma. Moderate intensity with a focus on bready, biscuity, and lightly toasty German malt character. Very low caramel quality. Hop aroma is low to moderate with earthy and floral notes. Clean fermentation with mild fruity esters and no diacetyl.
Taste. Initial impression is malty but balanced. Malt flavors of toasted bread and biscuit dominate the palate, supported by a medium bitterness. Low earthy hop flavor is present. The finish is dry and clean with a lingering but smooth bitterness that does not overpower the malt complexity.
Mouthfeel. Medium body, providing more weight than a standard session ale due to the triple malt formulation. Moderate natural carbonation from bottle conditioning. Features a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth and no astringency.
