This Belgian Golden Strong Ale is a vibrant collaboration that balances deceptive strength with effortless drinkability. Brewed with German lager malt, it presents a delicate grain profile that allows the expressive Belgian yeast to shine. High-intensity esters of sweet pear and tangerine dominate the nose, accented by classic bubblegum notes and a touch of peppery spice. Lightly hopped with Tettnang and Herkules, it offers a subtle herbal and citrus backbone. Despite its 9.9% ABV, the beer remains remarkably crisp and light-bodied, delivering a dry, effervescent finish with a smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth that defines this style's mythical potency.
Appearance. Bright straw color (3–4 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Features a massive, long-lasting, rocky white head that leaves significant Belgian lacing.
Aroma. High intensity; prominent fruity esters of pear and tangerine with secondary bubblegum notes. Moderate spicy phenols reminiscent of white pepper. Low, clean grainy-sweet malt character. Low floral and herbal hop notes from Tettnang.
Taste. Initial impression of pome fruit and citrus sweetness, transitioning to a spicy, peppery fermentation character. Very low grainy-sweet malt flavor. Moderate hop bitterness is amplified by high attenuation. Finish is exceptionally dry and clean with a lingering peppery alcohol note and a hint of herbal hop flavor from Herkules.
Mouthfeel. Light to medium-light body, remarkably lean for the gravity. Very high carbonation creates an effervescent, prickly sensation. Noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth without harsh fusels.

We hosted our new friends Tartarus Brewing earlier in the year and decided to brew up a big, boozy and beautiful Belgian golden strong. Brewed traditionally using a simple malt bill of all german lager malt, hopped lightly with Tettnang and Herkules hops and fermented warm with Belgian yeast for maximum fruity and spicy esters. It pours a bright straw colour with a large foamy head, aromas of sweet pear and tangerine dominant along with hints of bubblegum and peppery spice. At 9.9% it has a surprisingly smooth, light and crisp body with just a hint of booziness.
