This indulgent Imperial Stout captures the essence of a decadent mudcake, delivering an intense sensory experience driven by significant additions of chocolate and cacao. The aroma is a rich tapestry of bittersweet chocolate and fudge, underpinned by deep notes of roasted espresso and dark dried fruits like raisins and prunes. On the palate, it unfolds with layers of velvet-smooth cocoa and toasty malt sweetness, balanced by a firm roasty bitterness. The high alcohol content provides a sophisticated, integrated warmth that carries the dense flavors into a long, bittersweet finish, epitomizing the luxurious, dessert-forward character typical of the style.

Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+). It features a thick, dark brown head with moderate retention and significant viscosity, often leaving visible legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity with a dominant character of bittersweet chocolate, cocoa, and fudge. Secondary notes include roasted coffee, dark fruits like raisins and plums, and a smooth, well-integrated alcohol presence. Low earthy hops and a faint caramel sweetness round out the profile.

Taste. An initial impression of rich, cake-like sweetness followed by intense layers of dark chocolate and roasted grain. Malt flavors of toast and burnt coffee are balanced by a medium-high bitterness. Moderate esters of dried figs and black currants emerge mid-palate. The finish is long and bittersweet with a lingering cocoa and alcohol-warmed aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a chewy, velvety, and luscious texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A smooth, noticeable alcohol warmth is present, enhancing the richness without being sharp or solventy.
