This Imperial expression of an American Porter offers a masterclass in barrel integration, weaving together the distinct threads of Cognac, Sherry, and Islay whisky. A deep base of roasted malts delivers intense notes of dark chocolate and espresso, while the Islay casks impart a sophisticated layer of peat smoke. The Sherry influence adds rich depths of toasted walnut and dried figs, complemented by the floral, vinous elegance of Cognac. At 11% ABV, the palate is exceptionally broad, finishing with a warming, sophisticated complexity that balances assertive bitterness against a decadent, multi-layered sweetness and lingering oak character.

Appearance. Opaque, deep ebony with garnet-tinted highlights at the edges. Crowns with a thick, persistent tan head that leaves dense, creamy lacing. SRM 40+.

Aroma. High intensity. Potent layers of dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, and burnt sugar. The Islay influence provides a prominent smoky, medicinal peat character, while the Sherry and Cognac contribute aromas of raisin, plum, and subtle oak tannins. Moderate dark fruit esters and a hint of vanilla.

Taste. Bold roasted malt flavors dominate the entry, transitioning into bittersweet chocolate and charred bread. Significant barrel character emerges mid-palate, featuring smoky peat, earthy oak, and nutty oxidative notes from the Sherry. Firm bitterness provides structure against the rich malt body.
