Origin represents a masterful collaboration between PINTA Barrel Brewing and the legendary Oud Beersel, blending wild ales aged for two and three years. This Brett Beer exudes a sophisticated profile of aged complexity, leading with an aromatic bouquet of horse blanket, wet hay, and aged leather. Subtle notes of dried apricot and lemon zest emerge, woven through an earthy, rustic foundation. On the palate, it is exceptionally dry and effervescent, showcasing a vibrant interplay of citrus-like acidity and stone fruit esters. The extended maturation provides a profound depth of funk that lingers into a crisp, clean finish, reflecting the storied tradition of its Belgian influence.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale amber (SRM 5-7). Moderate white head with fair retention and light lacing. Slight haze is present, typical of a long-aged wild blend.
Aroma. High intensity. Complex barnyard funk with notes of horse blanket, leather, and wet hay. Pronounced fruitiness featuring dried apricot, lemon zest, and hints of pineapple. Subtle earthy undertones and a faint, clean bready malt character.
Taste. Bone-dry and crisp. Initial flavors of tart citrus and stone fruit like peach and nectarine. The mid-palate introduces a rustic complexity of earth and aged wood funk. Hop bitterness is minimal, allowing the fermentation character to lead. The finish is very dry and clean with a lingering fruity, leathery aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body. High carbonation with an effervescent, lively texture. Minimal alcohol warmth is well-integrated. No astringency; smooth despite the high attenuation.
