Ophiussa Selene is a celestial Wild Specialty Beer that radiates a vibrant, fruit-forward complexity. A lush tapestry of raspberry, blackcurrant, and blueberry creates a deep berry foundation, while pineapple provides a bright, tropical acidity that elevates the profile. The addition of vanilla softens the edges, weaving a silky, indulgent thread through the palate that balances the gentle wild fermentation character. The interplay between the tart fruit skins and the creamy sweetness results in a beautifully poised, refreshing experience. Serene and expressive, it balances the intensity of a fruit smoothie with the bright, clean acidity expected of a well-crafted wild ale.

Appearance. Pours a brilliant, saturated red hue with deep purple highlights. Displays a modest pink-tinted head with fair to poor retention, typical of high-fruit wild ales, leaving a thin collar and minimal lacing. The body is hazy and dense with fruit particulate, yet maintains a luminous quality.

Aroma. High intensity aromatics of jammy raspberry and tart blackcurrant dominate the foreground. Secondary notes of ripened blueberry and zesty pineapple provide a multi-layered fruit bouquet. A soft, creamy vanilla scent rounds out the acidity, accompanied by a subtle, clean lactic sourness and a faint hint of earthy wild yeast funk.

Taste. The initial impression is a burst of mixed berry tartness, featuring prominent raspberry and earthy blackcurrant. Pineapple adds a sharp, tropical tang in the mid-palate, which is immediately softened by a smooth vanilla sweetness. Bitterness is virtually non-existent (approaching 0 IBU). The fermentation character is clean and acidic rather than funky. The finish is bright and lingering, with a silky fruit-skin texture and a refreshing, tart aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a lush, velvety texture often associated with smoothie-style beers. Carbonation is moderate, providing enough lift to prevent the fruit from feeling heavy. Alcohol warmth is negligible. A very slight tannin-driven astringency from the berry skins adds structure without harshness.
