This Double IPA is a masterclass in texture and tropical intensity, delivering a powerhouse sensory experience at 10% ABV. The addition of Hokkaido Rice and Oats creates an exceptionally soft, pillowy mouthfeel that serves as a canvas for explosive New Zealand hops sourced from Freestyle Farms. Expect a sensory wave of passion fruit, guava, and crushed lime zest. The rice ensures a lean, dry finish despite the substantial strength, while the oats round out the firm bitterness. It pours a glowing gold with a persistent white head, balancing high-octane power with refined drinkability and a lingering, resinous fruit finish.
Appearance.Deep gold color (approx. 7 SRM) with a slight haze from the oat and rice additions. Topped by a dense, persistent, creamy white head that exhibits excellent lacing.
Aroma.Intense hop-forward bouquet dominated by New Zealand hop characteristics. High notes of passion fruit, ripe mango, and lime. A clean, subtle graininess from the Hokkaido Rice provides a neutral backdrop, while a hint of smooth alcohol warmth is present without any solventy edges.
Taste. The palate is led by massive tropical fruit flavors, specifically pineapple and stone fruit. Bitterness is firm but incredibly smooth, lacking any harshness or astringency. The malt profile is clean and unobtrusive, with the rice contributing to a dry, crisp finish that belies the high gravity. Very low residual sweetness vanishes into a long, hoppy, and slightly resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel.Medium-full body with a distinctively creamy, pillowy texture derived from the oats. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a lively lift. Significant but well-integrated alcohol warmth is noticeable, contributing to the beer's substantial presence without being hot.
