Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (SRM 40+). It pours with a thick, dense, deep tan head that shows moderate retention. High viscosity is evident through visible legs on the glass after swirling.
Aroma. High intensity with prominent toasted Sri Lankan coconut and Madagascar vanilla. The barrel influence is clear, offering notes of caramel, spicy oak, and bourbon from the Heaven Hill and Jeptha Creed casks. Secondary aromas include bittersweet chocolate, roasted coffee, and faint dark fruit esters like prune and fig.
Taste. The initial impression is intensely sweet and rich, driven by lactose and Madagascar vanilla. A massive wave of toasted Sri Lankan coconut follows, integrating with dark chocolate and roasted grain flavors. The bourbon barrel aging adds layers of vanilla bean and toasted oak. While there is a moderate hop and roast bitterness, it is largely balanced by the thick, syrupy body. The finish is lingering and sweet with a smooth alcohol presence.
Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied and chewy with a luscious, velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, enhancing the syrupy mouthfeel. A significant, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, avoiding any harshness or solvent notes.
