This Imperial Stout presents a decadent sensory profile shaped by its sophisticated maturation in Heaven Hill and Jeptha Creed bourbon barrels. The aroma is dominated by an intense fusion of toasted Sri Lankan coconut and Madagascar vanilla, layered over a foundation of dark chocolate and espresso. On the palate, the beer is remarkably powerful and syrupy, where the lactose and Madagascar vanilla provide a velvety sweetness that balances the charred oak and spirit character of the bourbon. Significant notes of nutty coconut and rich cocoa persist through a long, warming finish, creating a complex, dessert-like harmony that showcases both the extended barrel aging and premium adjuncts.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (SRM 40+). It pours with a thick, dense, deep tan head that shows moderate retention. High viscosity is evident through visible legs on the glass after swirling.

Aroma. High intensity with prominent toasted Sri Lankan coconut and Madagascar vanilla. The barrel influence is clear, offering notes of caramel, spicy oak, and bourbon from the Heaven Hill and Jeptha Creed casks. Secondary aromas include bittersweet chocolate, roasted coffee, and faint dark fruit esters like prune and fig.

Taste. The initial impression is intensely sweet and rich, driven by lactose and Madagascar vanilla. A massive wave of toasted Sri Lankan coconut follows, integrating with dark chocolate and roasted grain flavors. The bourbon barrel aging adds layers of vanilla bean and toasted oak. While there is a moderate hop and roast bitterness, it is largely balanced by the thick, syrupy body. The finish is lingering and sweet with a smooth alcohol presence.

Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied and chewy with a luscious, velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, enhancing the syrupy mouthfeel. A significant, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, avoiding any harshness or solvent notes.

Az Imperial Stout alkoholosabb, szárazabb, csokisabb a sima stouthoz képest, rendkívül gazdag, édes, telt malátajelleggel. A keserűség származhat pörkölt malátákból vagy komló hozzáadásából. Eredetileg az Orosz cári családnak szánták.

A Stout a porter szárazabb, sötétebb, testesebb erősebb leszármazottja. Színben nagyon hasonlóak, a stoutokban azonban sokkal több a karamellizált pörkölt maláta és a kávés ízvilág, valamint édeskésebbek is. A stout szó első ismert használata egy 1677-ben keltezett, az Egerton Manuscripts-ban talált dokumentumban, amely a sör erősségére utal. 1721-ben használták először a porter nevet egy pörkölt malátával készült sötétbarna sör leírására. A porterek hatalmas népszerűsége miatt a sörfőzők többféle erősségben készítették őket. Az erősebb, jellemzően 7 vagy 8 %-os alkoholtartalmú söröket "stout porter"-nek nevezték, így a stout és a porter története és fejlődése összefonódott.
