This potent Double IPA evokes the season with a striking orange-copper hue, departing from standard pale versions through the purposeful use of Munich and Honey Malt. The sensory profile is dominated by an intense hop trio of Nectaron, Mosaic Lupomax, and Galaxy, which weave together a complex tapestry of lush tropical fruit, citrus resin, and distinct dried fruit notes. A non-conventional yeast strain provides a unique fermentation backdrop to the substantial malt structure. Despite its strength, the beer maintains a clean, firm bitterness that balances the honey-tinged toasted grain, finishing with a smooth, lingering warmth perfect for the cooling temperatures of autumn.
Appearance. Deep gold to bright orange-copper (10-14 SRM). Clear to only slightly hazy with a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head and significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring passion fruit, pineapple, and stone fruit from Nectaron and Galaxy, alongside berry and resinous pine from Mosaic Lupomax. Subtle notes of dried apricot and raisin emerge, supported by a toasted, honey-like malt sweetness and a clean, warming alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical mango and citrus. The mid-palate introduces a supportive malt character of toasted bread and light honey from the Munich and Honey Malt additions. Bitterness is high and firm but remains smooth. The finish is medium-dry and complex, characterized by lingering hop oils, dried fruit esters, and a refined alcohol warmth.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Moderate carbonation. Noticeable and pleasant alcohol warmth is present without being solventy or harsh. Low hop-derived astringency.
