Intense layers of tropical peach and pineapple from Nectaron meld with the signature grapefruit and lime zest of Citra, amplified by the concentrated oils of Citra Incognito and Citra Lupomax. Strata CGX adds a nuanced dankness and passionfruit depth to the profile. Despite its 10% strength, the beer remains remarkably drinkable with a lean malt profile that supports rather than masks the hop saturation. Expect an explosive, fruit-forward character that finishes with a crisp, resinous bitterness, embodying a modern, high-intensity evolution of the Double IPA style.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (8 SRM) with a persistent, creamy, off-white head. While modern examples often show a hazy opacity, it maintains a luminous glow with excellent head retention and lacing.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring prominent notes of stone fruit, passionfruit, and bright citrus. Nectaron provides a ripe peach character, while Strata adds a dank, herbal complexity. Citra contributes heavy grapefruit and tropical zest. Low grainy malt and a clean fermentation profile are found in the background, with a soft, well-integrated alcohol presence.
Taste. High-intensity hop flavors mirroring the aroma, dominated by mango, lime, and resinous pine. A firm, moderately high bitterness is present but smooth, lacking harshness. The malt character is soft and unobtrusive, providing a clean, neutral base. It finishes dry to medium-dry with a lingering, hoppy, and slightly resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate, providing a gentle lift. Noticeable, smooth alcohol warmth is present, reflecting its high ABV without being hot or solventy. No hop-derived astringency.
