This Double IPA is an olfactory explosion driven by an intense concentration of hops, specifically Nelson Sauvin, Galaxy, and a multilayered Citra presence utilizing Cryo, Lupomax, Spectrum, and Incognito formats. The sensory experience is dominated by pungent notes of crushed white grapes, passion fruit, and a saturated citrus oil character. These high-impact hops deliver a complex profile of tropical resins and lime zest over a lean, neutral malt backbone. Despite the formidable 8.5% ABV, the beer remains remarkably drinkable, finishing dry with a firm, clean bitterness and a lingering essence of dank pine and gooseberry.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (7-9 SRM). Pours with a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head that leaves significant lacing. Exhibits a saturated haze consistent with heavy dry-hopping techniques.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent white wine, gooseberry, and tropical fruit notes. Distinctive citrus layers of grapefruit and lime peel are supported by a faint, grainy-sweet malt background. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a massive wave of resinous tropical fruit and citrus. Malt flavor is low and unobtrusive, providing a soft, supportive base for high hop bitterness that remains smooth rather than harsh. Complex hop flavors of melon and passion fruit lead into a dry, medium-dry finish with a long-lasting hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate. A light, clean alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, lacking any harsh solvent notes or hop-derived astringency.
