Mad Scientist

Damnhouse presents a vibrant evolution of a Double Dry-Hopped IPA, celebrating Madhouse Budapest with a refreshing botanical twist. The sensory profile is defined by an energetic interplay between bright, oily Lemon Zest and the resinous, forest-like depth of Spruce Tips. These additions integrate seamlessly into a soft, hazy base, where modern dry-hopping delivers lush tropical notes. The citrus oils provide a zesty lift to the aroma, while the spruce tips offer a sophisticated evergreen backbone that complements the hop bitterness. It is a balanced, medium-bodied experience where bright fruit acidity meets a lingering, resinous finish, epitomizing the spirit of a modern Fruit Beer.

Appearance. SRM 4-6, pale gold to deep yellow. Opaque with a characteristic haze. Thick, creamy white head with excellent retention and persistent lacing.

Aroma. High intensity with a complex layering of lemon oil and resinous pine. Fresh spruce tips provide a forest-like aroma that mingles with tropical hop esters of mango and citrus. Low grainy-sweet malt character allows the botanical and hop aromatics to dominate.

Taste. Initial impression is zesty and bright. Malt flavor is low and bready, supporting a dominant hop profile of citrus and tropical fruit. The Spruce Tips add a distinctively resinous, herbal depth. Lemon Zest provides a crisp, slightly acidic edge. Moderate hop bitterness is well-integrated. The finish is dry and clean with a lingering evergreen and citrus pith aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a soft, smooth texture typical of the base style. Moderate to high carbonation. Low alcohol warmth. Very low astringency, though a slight pithy sensation from the zest adds structure.

Az India Pale Ale (IPA) az újhullámos kisüzemi sörfőzés legmeghatározóbb stílusa, eredete egészen az indiai angol gyarmatosításig nyúl vissza. A kereskedők úgy szerették volna optimalizálni a hosszú és drága hajóutat, hogy erősebb és több komló felhasználásával készült, így keserűbb, testesebb, ízesebb, ráadásul tartósabb söröket főznek, majd ezeket helyben, már felvizezett formában kínálják. Ezt gyakran az állomásozó katonák nem várták meg és csapra verték a jóval kedvesebb főzeteket. Ez a történet szolgált alapul az amerikai kisüzemi sörforradalom elindulásához nagyjából az 1980-as években, ekkor kezdtek a főzdék hasonló stílusban, rendkívül izgalmas komlóhangsúlyos, ezáltal illatos és keserű söröket főzni.
