Lupulus Hopera is an expressive Specialty IPA that balances a vibrant hop character with a structured, amber-toned foundation. It offers a powerful sensory experience defined by a broad aromatic palette of exotic fruits and tropical notes, a result of extensive dry-hopping. The beer is notably dry, showcasing a pronounced yet carefully controlled bitterness that avoids harshness. While the hop profile remains the centerpiece, a background of light toasted malt provides necessary support without introducing heavy sweetness. This creates a crisp, refreshing profile where the hop intensity and Belgian-influenced fermentation character harmonize into a clean, lingering finish.
Appearance. Copper to amber in color (10-14 SRM). Displays a slight haze with visible carbonation. Topped by a persistent, off-white head that leaves moderate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma with a complex profile of exotic fruit, mango, and passion fruit, accompanied by light citrus and resinous notes. Low to moderate malt presence with hints of toasted bread and light caramel. A clean fermentation profile, though subtle spicy esters may be present.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward and crisp. Moderate to high hop flavors of tropical fruit and grapefruit dominate. Malt flavor is low to medium, providing a light toasty backbone. Bitterness is firm and pronounced (representative of approximately 50-60 IBUs) but remains smooth. The finish is distinctly dry and clean with a lingering, pleasant bitterness and minimal hop astringency.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate to high carbonation that enhances the dry sensation. Smooth texture with very light alcohol warmth and no notable astringency.
