La Superbe LARRU
This interpretation of a German Pilsner presents a modern, hop-forward profile that elevates the traditional style with a lean, crisp body. The inclusion of rice provides a remarkably clean canvas for the vibrant dry-hop additions of Citra and Centennial. Expect a bright bouquet of lime zest, grapefruit, and lemon blossoms over a subtle background of toasted cracker. At 6% ABV, it carries slightly more weight than a standard Pils, yet remains highly refreshing. The finish is sharp and dry, defined by a firm, lingering bitterness and a flinty minerality that cleanses the palate, making it an exceptionally bright and punchy lager.
Appearance. Pale straw to light gold (2–3 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a dense, creamy white head that exhibits excellent retention and leaves intricate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit and lime from Citra, complemented by the floral and lemon-pine character of Centennial. Low grainy-sweet malt presence with a clean fermentation profile, devoid of fruity yeast esters.
Taste. Initial malt sweetness is minimal, quickly overtaken by citrus and floral hop flavors. The rice adjunct ensures a very dry, crisp palate. Bitterness is firm and assertive, leading into a clean, lingering finish with a touch of minerality and a faint cracker-like malt backbone.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a very crisp, fast-ending texture. High carbonation provides a prickly effervescence. A light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, though it remains refreshing without any astringency or harshness.
