This Imperial Stout offers an indulgent experience defined by extreme creaminess and absolute density. Jet black and opaque, it releases a complex bouquet of roasted coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and dark fruit esters reminiscent of figs and raisins. The palate is a rich tapestry of deep-roasted grains, echoing the brewer’s intent of a coffee and cigar profile with subtle tobacco-like depths and a robust malt backbone. A firm bitterness balances the residual sweetness, leading to a long, decadent finish. With its velvety texture and integrated alcohol warmth, it serves as a sophisticated liquid dessert designed for slow, contemplative sipping.
Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (35-40 SRM). Pours with a dense, persistent dark tan head that leaves significant lacing. High viscosity is apparent through visible legs on the glass.
Aroma. Intense and complex. Dominant aromas of freshly roasted coffee and dark cocoa are layered with dark fruit esters like prunes and black currants. A subtle, earthy tobacco note provides a cigar-like depth, complemented by a hint of toasted caramel and smooth alcohol.
Taste. Powerful initial impression of bittersweet chocolate and espresso. The malt profile is deep and bready, supporting firm levels of roasted bitterness. Mid-palate reveals layers of dried plum and raisin. The finish is long and warming with a lingering roast character and a balanced, slightly sweet aftertaste that remains harmonious rather than cloying.
Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a luscious, velvety, and exceptionally creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate-low, enhancing the beer's weight and absolute density. A smooth, gentle alcohol warmth is noticeable and well-integrated.
