La Chouffe has a quintessentially Belgian character, with spiced, bready notes, coriander and a touch of lemon. Hazy gold and unfiltered, its light refreshing nature masks a robust 8% ABV. Brasserie d'Achouffe is named after the Chouffe gnomes rumoured to live in the Ardennes mountains.
According to legend, the magical gnomes ran their own brewery in the hills for many years until disaster struck and the brewery was destroyed. The story goes that one of these little brewers visited the founders of Brasserie d'Achouffe and gave them the recipe for the beer which would henceforth be known as La Chouffe.
Golden Ale, strong, spicy, lightly hoppy, with evolving taste. Natural beer, bottle conditioned, unfiltered, not pasteurised and without any additives.

Schiuma bianca molto cremosa ed abbondante con una buona persistenza ed aderenza.
Bouquet olfattivo molto ampio: speziato (coriandolo, noce moscata e chiodi di garofano), floreale, agrumato (buccia d’arancia), di lievito (crosta di pane e banana), di caramello e toffee.
Al palato il calore morbido ed avvolgente mutuato dal notevole grado alcolico viene ottimamente bilanciato dall'amaro del luppolo e da una sensazione finale di frutta più acerba ed aspra.
Una birra elegante, molto piacevole, che si fa bere con estrema disinvoltura. Una birra dal carattere semplice che non rinuncia ad una sua personalità complessa e ben definita.
