This vibrant Berliner Weisse delivers a tropical sensory experience centered on a generous addition of passion fruit. The profile is defined by a clean, sharp lactic acidity that harmonizes with the fruit’s natural tang, while a foundational blend of Pilsner and wheat malts provides a soft, doughy, and grainy backdrop. Despite the crisp acidity, a delicate sweetness balances the palate, enhancing the refreshment factor for warm-weather drinking. The passion fruit remains bright and authentic from start to finish, leading into a highly effervescent and dry conclusion. It emphasizes fruit purity and a clean fermentation profile over traditional funk or hop character.
Appearance. Pale straw color with a slight golden-orange tint from the fruit addition. Somewhat hazy with a large, dense, white head that shows poor retention due to high acidity and fruit oils.
Aroma. High intensity with a dominant fresh passion fruit character. A moderate to moderately-high sharply sour lactic note provides a zesty edge. Very light grainy wheat and raw bread dough notes are present in the background. No hop aroma.
Taste. Clean lactic sourness dominates the initial palate, immediately followed by intense, tart passion fruit flavor. A complementary doughy and grainy malt sweetness is noticeable, providing balance. Hop bitterness is undetectable, with acidity providing the structure. The finish is very dry and refreshing with a lingering tropical fruit aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Light body but with a soft texture that avoids being thin. Very high carbonation with a prickly, effervescent sensation. No alcohol warmth is present. Sharp, crisp acidity.
