This decadent Imperial Stout captures the essence of a classic tiramisu through a luxurious blend of specialty coffee and Madagascar vanilla. Poured a deep, opaque black, the sensory journey begins with an intense bouquet of freshly roasted coffee beans and creamy vanilla, layered over a robust base of dark chocolate and toasted malts. On the palate, the addition of champagne cookies contributes a subtle cake-like sweetness, expertly balancing the bold espresso bitterness and the smooth warmth of its 10% ABV. It is a full-bodied, velvet-textured dessert in a glass, finishing with a complex, mocha-infused sweetness and a touch of lingering roast.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+). Topped with a thick, persistent, light brown head that leaves dense lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity of freshly roasted specialty coffee and rich Madagascar vanilla. Underlying notes of dark chocolate, cocoa powder, and toasted grain are present, with very low resinous hop character and light dark fruit esters.
Taste. Initial impression is sweet and creamy, followed by dominant flavors of bittersweet chocolate and espresso. The Madagascar vanilla and champagne cookies provide a mid-palate richness reminiscent of ladyfingers. Medium-high bitterness from roasted grains and hops provides balance. The finish is long and indulgent with lingering notes of mocha and vanilla.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and viscous with a creamy, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate. Noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth provides a pleasant chest glow without being sharp or hot.
