This artisanal Catalan ale offers an inviting toasted profile, interpreting the Blonde Ale style through a traditional English lens. The complex grain bill, featuring Pale Ale, Vienna, Ambar, and Carawheat malts, creates a robust foundation of toasted bread and subtle biscuit notes. Delicate floral and earthy counterpoints emerge from the use of Fuggles and Saaz hops, providing a refined, spicy character. Bottle conditioning imparts a natural, creamy effervescence that carries the intense flavors through to a clean, balanced finish. It represents a bridge between approachable sessionability and the nuanced depth of classic European malt and hop traditions.
Appearance. Deep gold to toasted amber in color (6–8 SRM). Slightly hazy due to being unfiltered and bottle-conditioned, topped with a medium, off-white head that demonstrates fair retention and light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate malt intensity featuring prominent notes of toasted bread, crackers, and a hint of honeyed sweetness. Hop character is low to moderate, displaying the earthy, woodsy notes of Fuggles and the spicy, floral elegance of Saaz. Clean fermentation profile with very low fruity esters.
Taste. Initial impression of soft, toasted maltiness. Flavor profile includes bread crust and light biscuit derived from the specialty malts. Hop flavor is low, mirroring the aroma with herbal and spicy tones. Bitterness is medium-low, providing just enough structure to balance the malt-forward profile. Finishes medium-dry and clean with a lingering, pleasant grainy sweetness.
